God Of War clone Dante’s Inferno has courted a lot of controversy since it was announced. Now EA are stoking the fire by sending US reviewers $200 cheques, as reported by joystiq. A marketing ploy, or a cynical attempt to boost the game’s review rating?
This test of journalist’s greed comes in a wooden box with a skeleton adorning the outside and a note inside that says: “In Dante’s Inferno, Greed is a two-headed beast. Hoarding wealth feeds on beast and squandering it satiates the other. By cashing this check you succumb to avarice by harding filthy lucre, but by not cashing it, you waste it, and thereby surrender to prodigality. Make your choice and suffer the consequence for your sin. And scoff not, for consequences are imminent.”
We here at Critical Gamer would *cough* never succumb to such a ploy!
