Assassin’s Creed 2 TGS 09 Trailer

Timed to coincide with TGS 09, Ubisoft have released a new trailer for Assassin’s Creed 2 showcasing new protagonist Ezio’s expanded repertoire of moves and weapons, as well as giving us a glimpse into the story. Some of the attacks on display are pretty brutal, and Ezio seems to be a bit more of an aggressively violent fighter than Altair, perhaps due to his motivations, or perhaps just so Ubisoft can show off their mastery of ultra-violent animations. Either way, the combat looks much improved over the original game, lets hope that it can address the few other problems that marred an otherwise impressive debut for Assassin’s Creed.

Ubisoft are promising that there will be many more quest types than last time around, providing for a more varied experience, which was one of the key complaints from the first game. If this trailer is anything to go by, Assassin’s Creed 2 is looking very strong. We can’t wait for its release, which is set for 20th November on Xbox 360 and PS3, with a Q1 2010 release for the PC version.

Lack of variety was the main complaint about the first game, but adding lots of side missions isn’t the answer. I’d prefer more variety and choices in the way to perform the assassinations, like in the Hitman games. Rather than the old knife to the guts every time as in the original. This would give the game more freedom and would add an extra dimesion to the gameplay. I hope this is the case with the sequel.

I see what you’re saying here, but I kinda liked the old knife-to-the-guts every time, and that bit where he goes all Mortal Kombat on the guys face with the double blades looks like fun!

The thing for me with AC was the atmosphere of the places, just pushing through the crowds and stalking the streets was cool. Made even better when a single guard would pick a fight, realise he’s gonna lose then try to leg it. Jumping onto their backs with the old blade through the brain, can’t beat it!
