Whilst creeping down the ever darkening halls of online gaming, soon it might be a good idea to protect your supple brain with a hard hat as new studio, Undead Labs, intends to bring us the world’s first console MMOZ (massively multiplayer online zombie game).
Whilst nothing concrete is known about Undead Labs’ online zombie slaying fest, the blurb makes the gameplay sound more like Dead Rising than Resident Evil.
“Nothing screams funny quite like wading into a group of rotting zombies with a lawn chair and a box of sharpened HB pencils, and nothing says fun quite like doing it with your friends, whether online or on your sofa. Undead Labs is committed to bringing to life an MMO loaded with action, humour and, of course, a lot of zombies, because the world doesn’t any need more dragons.”
The formation of Undead Labs was announced today by MMO veteran developer Jeff Strain who’s CV has names like NCsoft and Blizzard Entertainment chiselled under his employment history, meaning that experience is definitely at the helm.
He said, “Every time I see a good zombie movie with friends, we spend days debating our strategies for surviving the zombie apocalypse. The police station or the supermarket? Garden rake or staple gun? Bach or The White Stripes? I’m a game developer, so I’d probably be useless for anything other than ghoul bait, but I’m excited to have the opportunity to build an MMOZ that lets us put those strategies to the test and find out for sure.”
Better make that experience and passion at the helm. The premise sounds interesting but can it deliver? You can track the progress of the developer here at their website.
