WOW Player Attacks Mother

PhotobucketFighting with your parents is far to familiar to many of us. How many times have you heard your mother call to you and order you to “Turn that down, sunny,” when you were younger? Be it a videogame, TV, or music? But we doubt many of you have brought it this far.

On February 11, at or around 10pm, James Swan, a 27 year old man, while playing World of Warcraft, got into a fight with his mother when she had asked him to quiet down as her 3 grandchildren were attempting to sleep. After ignoring her requests, the mother walked over and placed her hand on his shoulder, which sent James into a rage. He then grabbed her by the hair and threw her across the room. From here, she somehow managed to get to a phone and began to dial 9-1-1. In which James got to the phone and ripped it out of the wall, proceeded to push her to the ground and choke her. At around this point the James’ Grandfather came in with a handgun and accidentally shot James in a power struggle after the gun, still holstered, misfired and grazed his left ear.

We believe we could all agree that a more civil solution would have been simply to turn the volume down, put a set a headphones on, or stop screaming at the game, but it seems to be that this particular fight was bound to happen regardless of which game he was playing, though there was no clarification on what the fight was actually about.

THIS IS WHY ALL GAMES SHOULD BE BANNED IN SOCIETY!!! Whe didn’t have this kind of violence years ago before computer games were rotting the minds of the young. Long gone are the days of sitting in a peaceful collusium enjoying the silly shenanigins of the gladiators Vs lions, oh how we all laughed back then. Bring back the noble sport of jousting I say, or even a public hanging from time to time, everyone liked those.

What has happened to our way of life today?

  2. Max says:

It just had to be World of Warcraft.

  3. Mark says:

^ and you’re the reason we need sterilization programs to keep idiots from making more idiots…

    • IhadToReplyToThisMark says:

      Mark,

1st) If your going to try and sandbag someones comment with humor, don’t use cliche comments that prove that even on the internet you’re still thoughtless and unwelcome.

2nd) If your going to try and sandbag someones comment with humor, make sure your not a professional retard and completely miss what the person was saying — especially when the point is highly valid.

      3rd) I’m sorry that you’ll probably never learn… Idiot

      • Mark says:

Guess you’re too stupid to realize I was referring to the idiocy of his comment, you were just aching to his that comment button. Every time a story pops up we get morons replying with the dumbest sh*t. Regardless of his sarcasm it was just stupid.

        Doors that way dipshit –>

  4. beck says:

uh mark, obviously krazyface was being sarcastic… lol, and you talk about sterilizing the idiots? sorry to break it to you pal, but you’re first!
sure we are getting worse, but hell, we are still no ancient romans when it comes to gratuitous violence.

  5. reelife says:

    KrazyFace

You mean the vikings played video games? Hitler too?
    wow, didn’t knew that…

    el tardo!

  6. tolu says:

    @KrazyFace
Oh really, so it’s about the games now huh…… there are more issues facing families than talking out a game being banned, if you dont like games dont hate, thats your biz really!

  7. AlphaBear says:

Ridiculous. I play video games religiously, some just take it way too seriously. Down with WoW.

  8. Michael J says:

I’m kind of in shock that anyone thought Krazyface was being serious there, his name is Krazyface after all.

  9. shingo yabuki says:

    wow that’s sick

  10. RavenWolfx says:

perhaps a psych exam should be a prerequisite before you can start playing video games.

  11. Chris says:

    He’s joking ffs.

  12. RobNGraves says:

first lets check his age first still with parents telling him what to do.
second maybe he had a stressful day at work…………or jobseeking if he was able to pull himself from the game.
Third how many things are the side effect of WoW? WoW is just replacing Dungeons and Dragons myths and hysteria. Video games just replace some other fad that did the same side effects as the earlier era. Grand Theft Auto caused alot of BS. people got tired of it and stopped. People will go crazy over something else. When school kids were shooting each other what was blamed? Video games? no. Dungeon and Dragons. Its a side effect of life. spend too much time as an outcast when people interact with you face to face you go nuts cuz you dont know how to act. Daylight will not kill you. go outside and have fun on a good day besides being set infront of a monitor. Hell i might be an achievement whore on Xbox with over 100 games but i still have a life and a day job.

  13. mitch says:

Lol, you guys are morons! oh my god. I can’t believe you actually thought he was being serious. You guys are clueless

  14. Kuba says:

It all started because she touched his shoulder. I think we know who’s responsible for this….

Anyway, this was bound to happen either way. The gun going off, the hair pulling, fuck yeah. You don’t mess with a gamer when he’s in the zone. If anything, back away. A gamer in the zone, about to accomplish something is on edge and concentrating hard.

I’m not the only one who’s cracked the shits at mum because I haven’t taken the rubbish out due to me still playing because I’ve been killed 10 times by the same person and still trying to get that revenge kill.

These people complaining about games, try playing for once in your life. Take an interest in something that you have no idea about but seem to know everything. Actually experience it, don’t take the medias word for it.

Wow. Check it out. A real life internet debate! It’s even got people missing sarcasm and salient points.

Getting back to the original story, this reminds me of an incident with a mini stapler following the suggesting of loud page turning during a late night, mid 90s, Michael Critchton novel reading session, but that’s another story….

WOW seems to have karma. They helped nab a criminal recently, now their stock goes down with this.

  16. Krazyface says:

Heyyyyy, calm down there marky, you sound like a pretty angry guy. I hope for your sake, nobody tries to get in between you and a Halo match! Sorry, you’re not related to these people, are you?
