New Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands gameplay trailer

The floppy haired, sword swinging, Prince of Persia is kicking up dust and rustling evil feathers again as can be seen in this new trailer for the game that bridges the gap between The Sands of Time and Warrior Within.

As can be seen from the trailer, it looks like a lot of undead nasties have somehow been awakened from the sand, intent on killing the unfortunate prince and anyone else with the terrible displeasure of stumbling upon them. Being an interquel set after the 2003 rejuvenation of the series, it will hopefully explain how the prince got so dark and full of angst for the hack and slash filled 2004 outing.

Magically rewinding time to correct fatal mistakes has been a staple element of the series for years, but it looks as if Ubisoft has thumbed a couple of new tricks up the prince’s sleeve. The gameplay above showcases a short range teleporting ability and an area of effect attack, as well as the time manipulation skills we are all familiar with.

Expect the game to be ducking, weaving and bobbing through pointy looking traps to be in stores for May on Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, DS, and PSP. PC users have to wait slightly longer for a June release of the game.
