Cut The Scenes
When the game breaks its own rules for narrative purposes it hurts both the gameplay and the story. The gameplay becomes seemingly moot and your actions seem to have little to no influence on the characters, which in turn makes you feel much less involved in the story.

Square’s latest is an unfinished experiment, and the players are the unwitting guinea pigs. The game begins at a constipated pace, finally passing its first nugget of entertainment at about a dozen hours in. Those willing to subject themselves to such abuse will find pockets of brilliance in a product brimming with half-baked ideas.
Final Fantasy XIII: A (Not So) Cynical View
Final Fantasy XIII has proved one of the biggest game launches in Japan for 2009, and by all accounts will prove to be equally (or more) popular with the rest of the world when it is released in March. FFXIII has been hit with a fair amount of criticism, despite selling well and receiving good review scores.
